Akyaka is one of the most beautiful villages of the area to visit when you book a half-day tour. This famous slow town is surrounded by untouched nature, has exotic beaches and narrow streets with stylish architecture.
For Akyaka excursion from Marmaris, our drivers will be waiting for you in front of your hotels at 14.00 in the afternoon. After gathering, we will drive 30 minutes to Akyaka. We will visit the remains of the ancient city Idyma, take a photo break at the “lovers road”, go on a short boat trip and have enough free time to explore Akyaka and the beach. During the whole tour our friendly drivers will give you safe and comfortable transportation between the tour destinations.
Your first stop is at the “lovers road”, where you can take beautiful photos, and you can see love messages carved in the trees. In 1936 they planted Eucalyptus trees on both sides of the road to dry marchlands and help combat malaria.
The next stop is scheduled to learn more about the remains of the ancient city Idyma. There are rock-cut tombs of six kings dated to the Hellenistic period.
Our boat on the Azmak River is waiting for us to get onboard. This impressive river looks like an aquarium where a variety of animals live. You might see some turtles, flamingos, dragonflies, ducks and kingfishers, so keep your camera ready! You can ask your guide anything you would like to know about this area.
After our short boat trip, we will have two hours free time. Akyaka is well-known for its gorgeous sandy beaches and clear water. There is a boulevard with several cafes, restaurants and handicraft souvenir shops. Walk around in this charming and relaxed village and admire the unique Mugla architecture. The two or three storey houses have hexagon shaped balconies and the doors and windows are made of wood.
During the return trip back to Marmaris, we will stop to take some panoramic photos of Marmaris by sunset. You will be back at you accommodation at approximately 18.30.
